This has become our go to spot for magnet fishing. When we’ve only got a little time, we jump over to Highbank. Got some time and have a big crew for the day? Hit Highbank! It’s got everything, let me lay it out for ya.

As far as spots that have it all, this is where it’s at. You’ve got the bridge over Bass River (Highbank Bridge), down below in the parking area you’ve got an extremely spacious pier, there’s a boat launch dock and you can even do some shore casting. This spot literally has anything you need, whatever you are comfortable with, it’s here at Wilbur Park. They’ve even got picnic tables if you wanna bring a lunch or just take a moment to relax and enjoy the views.

While we are not pulling any extremely large objects from the area, there is enough to keep ya busy and keeps the kids interested. During the low tides, as the water is receding, you can see blue crabs floating down river. There is a plethora of jellyfish but be careful, these one’s are tough. Things can get very “ouchy” if you start playing with the jellies!

Our first trip out, Colin pulled a very old buck knife; his prize find so far. We’ve got our fair share of hooks, bits of metal, bolts, nails, etc. The other day we were fishing off the bridge and I had something BIG on my 1400lb 360 Helios magnet from Kratos. I’m dead serious, this thing was heavy. I had it, my magnet had a good grip and was ready to be hauled in. The bridge had other plans and one of the beams would not let me get around it no matter what I did.

I guess that means we have to go back; oh darn!
